[English] After visiting Gwangju

I visited Gwangju to meet my father-in-law and mother-in-law. It had been a whole year since I last visited. Over the past year, I couldn’t focus much on personal matters as I was busy overcoming the crisis at the company. I feel like I should visit more often in the future. This year marks our 10th wedding anniversary. While our mothers are doing well, my father and father-in-law don’t seem as healthy as before. It seems like I should visit them more regularly.

This time, we attended a book launch event for “The Rural Curator’s Odyssey,” written by curator Shin Yong-chul, who happens to be a cousin of my wife. We attended the event with my wife and child, accompanying my mother-in-law. It was a great experience.

Our child seems to be thriving and growing in various ways. When time allows, I need to take them to more places. It’s wonderful.

p.s. At the end of the book launch event, Mandy Moore’s rendition of “Only Hope” from the movie <A Walk To Remember> played. It brought back memories of my youth in my twenties. It was a nostalgic and poignant moment. I’m attaching the YouTube video of that song.

장인장모님을 뵙기 위해, 광주에 다녀왔다. 무려 1년 만에 다녀왔다. 지난 1년간 회사의 위기를 극복하느라, 신경을 많이 쓰지 못했다. 앞으로는 좀 더 자주 찾아뵈야 할 것 같다. 결혼 10주년이 되는 해이다. 우리 어머니나 장모님은 괜찮은데, 우리 아버지나 장인어른은 예전처럼 건강해 보이시지는 않는다. 자주 찾아뵈야 할 것 같다.

이번에 <시골큐레이터 표류기>라는 책을 출판하신 신용철 큐레이터님이 와이프의 사촌이었다. 와이프, 아이와 함께 장모님을 모시고 그 출판 기념회에 다녀왔다. 좋은 경험이었다.

아이는 다양한 곳에서 더 성장하는 것 같다. 시간이 될 때, 더 많은 곳에 데려가야겠다. 좋은 시간이었다.

p.s. 출판 기념회의 마지막에 영화 <A Walk To Remember>에서 Mandy Moore가 부른 “Only Hope”가 나왔다. 20대의 젊은 시절이 떠오르는 곡이다. 기분이 묘했다.
